Vega Streams: Self-Hosted Movie and Series Streams with Automatic Provider Updates

A self-hosted, streams-only addon backed by 39 Vega providers, with resolution filters, automatic provider updates and an optional signed media proxy.

  • series

Vega Streams is a self-hosted Stremio addon that retrieves movie and series streams from 39 enabled Vega providers. It handles IMDb identifiers only and supplies streams rather than browsing catalogs.

Stream Delivery and Resolution Filters

  • Direct playback links: Results include the HTTP headers required by players.
  • Resolution filtering: Per-user minimum and maximum resolution preferences travel in the addon URL rather than being stored server-side. Streams with unknown resolution are included by default but can be excluded.
  • Optional media proxy: A signed proxy supports byte-range requests and rewrites HLS playlists to route their media through it.
  • Magnet handling: Magnet streams are excluded by default; the documented playback requirement is a debrid client.

Automatic Updates and Hosting Constraints

Provider updates are checked every four to six hours and applied without restarting the addon. If a provider bundle fails validation, its previous version remains active pending another attempt.

This addon suits users comfortable operating their own service. Downloaded provider JavaScript runs inside the Node process without a sandbox, making trust in the upstream repository important. Provider failures are isolated, but sites requiring interactive web-protection challenges can still fail.
